A 2017 Professional Communications Award from the Tree Care Industry Association was presented to Urban Tree President Ed Hopkins at the Winter Management Conference in Maui this month.

For more than 20 years, the TCIA Professional Communications Award has honored marketing and communication excellence within the tree care industry. Awards are given to the companies whose communications with the public or their peers make a significant contribution to the professionalism of the industry.

Awards are handed out in each of the five categories:

  • Newsletter/Brochure
  • Flyer/Ad/Postcard
  • Website
  • Digital/Social Media
  • Special Entry

Urban Tree Service’s newsletter was awarded third place in the newsletter/brochure category. The print newsletter includes tree and landscape tips, a seasonal checklist, trivia, a message from Ed, and much more.

TCIA evaluated each entry on the overall appearance, content quality, adherence to American National Standards Institute and Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards, and its success in achieving the company’s marketing and communications goals.

“We’re pleased to be recognized by the TCIA with this honor,” said Hopkins. “It’s all part of our effort to provide a personal touch with our professional services.”

More than 650 people from the tree care industry attended the Winter Conference in Maui.

Founded in 1938, TCIA is a public and professional resource on trees and arboriculture. It has more than 2,300 member companies. To learn more about TCIA and its Professional Communications Award program, visit TCIA.org.
